“Trace” Benzoylecgonine Identifications in Post- Race Urines: Probable Sources and Regulatory Significance of Such Identifications
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cocaine is an environmental contaminant in North America. Benzoylecgonine (BZE) is the major urinary metabolite of cocaine in horses and humans, and urinary detection of BZE is highly sensitive. Human workplace drug testing typically uses a confirmatory “cutoff” for BZE of 150 ng/ml in urine. A number of horse-racing jurisdictions have adopted similar urinary “cutoffs” for BZE; this communication presents the scientific basis for these cutoffs and lists jurisdictions with urinary cutoffs for BZE. Caffeine and Theobromine Identifications in Post- Race Urines: Threshold Levels and Regulatory Significance of Such Identifications
Caffeine is a widespread environmental substance, and testing for caffeine is now highly sensitive. Currently, many authorities in North America are not concerned about plasma caffeine concentrations of 100 ng/ml, equivalent to 300 ng/ml in urine. This is because such low caffeine concentrations are likely to be associated with environmental exposure to caffeine and are also unlikely to be asso...
متن کامل:ONE OR MORE RACES...’: A Simple Method for Statistical Analyses Involving Multiple Racial Identifications
Multiple racial identifications pose a vexing challenge to individuallevel analyses. Typically, data analysts make arbitrary decisions to allocate multi-racial respondents to single-race categories. Treated in this manner, race may be employed as a nominallevel covariate of any number of interesting and important social, economic, or demographic dependent variables, but statistical inference is...
متن کاملPRIDE: a public repository of protein and peptide identifications for the proteomics community
PRIDE, the 'PRoteomics IDEntifications database' (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/pride) is a database of protein and peptide identifications that have been described in the scientific literature. These identifications will typically be from specific species, tissues and sub-cellular locations, perhaps under specific disease conditions. Any post-translational modifications that have been identified on ind...
متن کاملGas-chromatographic/mass-spectrometric identification and quantitation of tetronic and deoxytetronic acids in urine from normal adults and neonates.
Gas chromatographic/mass spectrometric/computer analyses of trimethylsilyl derivatives of urine extracts, prepared by an anion-exchange procedure, reveal the presence of several tetronic and deoxytetronic acids. Identifications were confirmed by comparing gas-chromatographic methylene unit values and mass spectrometric characteristics with those of chemically synthesized samples. In addition, s...
متن کاملPemoline and tetramisole 'positives' in English racehorses following levamisole administration
Pemoline, [(RS)-2-amino-5-phenyl-1,3-oxazol-4(5H)-one] is a central nervous system stimulant used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy in humans (Molina and others 1981). In horse racing, pemoline is classified as an Association of Racing Commissioners International (ARCI) ‘Class 1’ foreign substance, i.e., an agent with high potential to influence performance...
